Sorry the only infomation i have of this Lanc' is this....

R5546. VN * T served with 50sqd from August 1943. It took part in eight raids before being lost on the Nuremberg raid on 30/31 March 1944 and this picture i sourced !

Shame theres no crew in this photo ! Might have spotted your uncle in it.

Maybe joining up on this forum you might find out more about R5546.

There are quite alot of vet's who hold alot of info about sqd's and Lancasters and maybe be helpful.

And most of all thankyou for the info you have provided makes the model that bit more special.

Re the Lancaster R5546 model built by ian lanc.
Ian thought you may appreciate some history regarding your model.
Of the seven crew that came down that night three originally survived. One is my uncle George Wallis, he was the air bomber that fateful night. I believe he is now the only living survivor. Unfortunately he is a very sick old man. The plane was shot down by night fighters and he was captured and held in Stalag Luft 3 (where the great escape took place some 2 weeks before his capture) The mission that night resulted in the largest loss by Bomber Command, total 106 aircraft and 545 aircrew.
After his liberation by the Russians he went back to England where he met and married Alice. He came back home to Australia and raised his family.
Would be interested in any info you have on R5546, great looking model.
Regards

Hi guys,
This Lanc'/version is modelled on ND673. F2 * V, It was originally a BIII then converted to a B VI.635 Sqd. RAF Dowham Market, late 1944. The model is depicting her when recently changed engines from RR Merlin 25's to RR Merlin 85's,also having a faired over front turret and a faired over upper turret which has yet not been painted over and no spinners on prop's.

The only added extra's are the resin nacelles which were a real pain to fit the wings and also having to extend the outer nacelles towards the ailerons

thanks for looking.
